Rules & Regulations
Serving mainly the Sikh community in Woolwich and its vicinity, the site for Gurdwara Sahib Woolwich was originally purchased in the 70's. Gurdwara Sahib Woolwich is managed by an executive management committee, elected from the members of the Sangat (congregation). The Sangat sets the governing rules for the administration of Gurdwara Sahib Woolwich through this committee. Every Gurdwara has it's own elected committee and its own governing rules, thus allowing the needs of each local Sangat to be met.

These are the rules that must be adhered to in the premises of Gurdwara Sahib Woolwich :
- Kindly remove your shoes prior to entering the Darbar Sahib. Women and men may use the shoe racks located on the left and right side respectively.
- Please cover your head at all times. Spare head coverings are available.
- The Sikhs generally bow to the Sri Guru Granth Sahib prior to joining the Sangat (congregation). You may however enter quietly and respectfully take your seat on the floor with the Sangat.
- In the Darbar Sahib, the Sangat generally sits cross-legged on the carpeted floor facing Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It is disrespectful to sit with feet pointed towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib. It is customary in this Gurdwara for women to sit on the left and for men to sit on the right on the carpeted floor. However, a limited amount of sitting platforms are available for those with a genuine impediment.
- Please dress conservatively.
- Kindly switch off any mobile devices prior to entering the Darbar Sahib.
- Acohol, tobacco, smoking or meat is prohibited on the Gurdwara premises.
- To avoid disruption to those who are listening attentively, kindly refrain from talking inside the Darbar Sahib. Everyone is encouraged to sing along with Keertan Shabad.
